  • It's the day after the Stagecoach Classic at Devil’s Thumb Ranch. Stay all weekend and race twice! Visit their site to sign up: //www.active.com/tabernash-co/winter-sports/skiing-races/stagecoach-classic-2017
  • In addition to great prizes for race winners, you’ve got a shot at special prizes for oldest and youngest teams, fastest family, and best costumes.
  • It’s for a great cause...all proceeds will benefit junior skiing and racing here in Grand County.
Course Description: Races will be held on the Grand Park Nordic course right behind Grand Park Community Rec Center. The course will be a 1 kilometer loop (shorter for kids and Doggy Dash), allowing for multiple sprint laps and maximum spectator access. It is relatively flat but we will slip in a couple fun obstacles to make things more interesting.
  • Competitive, recreational, youth (14 and under) and adaptive categories: teams of 2-3 racers will complete 6 laps (total) of a 1 km course.
  • Kids (10 and under): Teams of 2-3 will complete 6 laps of a 400m course.
  • Your choice of classic or skate for any/all legs.
  • Schedule: Depending on number of entrants anticipate 2 or more heats. Teams will be timed and fastest time wins. Although we can give a general idea of when each category will race, please be flexible. We will have a central location where we’ll post updates as the day goes on.
Strategy: Ski hard and fast. Rest. Do it again. Have fun.

Spectator Tips:

This is a great event for spectators. The 1 km course allows you to see the entire race and cheer on your favorites. In addition it's right in town, close to restaurants and other activities if you decide to take a break.

Adjacent to the Grand Park Rec Center you can take a break and check out the wonderful facilities, to include a beautiful pool with slide and lazy river, hot tub and sauna. Each racer will receive a free day pass good on race day and family/friends can purchase a day pass to join them.

You won't have time to be bored at this one!

* Doggie Dash: Bring your own skis and your dog and enter the Doggie Dash. All dogs will be on a leash and no poles are allowed. More details to follow but it should be a blast!

* Super-Size Snowball Throw: Show off your strength and see how far you can hurl a heavy medicine ball. Enter as many times as you wish (1 ticket per toss).

* Crazy Skier Photo Booth: Get your friends or family together and see just how crazy you can look! We'll have lots of fun props (1 ticket/person per photo).

Miscellaneous Info:

* NEW: StayWinterPark recently came on board as our lodging sponsor. Save 15% off 2 nights or 20% off 3 nights or more! They offer lodging within walking distance of our venue – park the car and enjoy! Call us at 1-800-228-1025 or email us at info@staywinterpark.com to book your Winter Park getaway or visit https://www.staywinterpark.com/our-specials/grand-park-nordic-relay-and-stagecoach-special/

* Team captains: For online registration you will sign up all team members at one time so please have their email addresses, dates of birth, and other information handy. Each team member will then receive an email with a waiver information. For same day registration, all team members need to sign their own waiver. If a team member is under 18, a parent or guardian must sign their form.

* Not sure whether to go recreational or competitive? If your teammates have all raced (even just once or twice) in the last few years, we recommend you go competitive. Recreational category is designed for folks who love to ski but who have never put a number on (or at least not for a VERY long time).

* Parking: Parking will be in the back lot of the Rec Center. Drive past the front door and continue to the large lot on the side of the Rec Center. If this lot fills you will be directed to park in a lot adjacent to the Winter Park Market.

* Registration/Check-in will open at 9 am and racing starts at 10 am. It will be located behind the Rec Center. Follow signs. No access through front door of Rec Center. Same day registration will be available if race categories haven’t filled. Recommend pre-registering online to be safe.

All proceeds will benefit junior skiing and racing here in Grand County.
